Description
Cashews are rich in monounsaturated and therefore “good” fats (43.80%), and have a fair protein (18.20%) and starch (23.50%) content, while they are relatively poor in water (5.2 %); only about 3% is represented by sugar and fibre. The presence of a good quantity of selenium offers excellent benefits against joint pain, thanks to its good anti-inflammatory properties”. Cashews are also able to counteract high cholesterol, as the monounsaturated fatty acids they contain, such as oleic and palmitic acid, appear to be able to significantly reduce bad LDL cholesterol and instead increase good HDL cholesterol. “These beneficial effects – specifies the nutritionist – also translate into a preventive action against the cardiovascular system, in particular against strokes and heart attacks and various heart diseases”.
